Taking off old tar, silicone and paint
Earlier repairs have to come off before new work goes on. Roof cement on flashing, silicone smeared over crown cracks, and paint or film sealer on brick all stop new material from gripping the old. They also hide the condition of what lies underneath, which is the part we need to judge.
