Taking down a stove connector pipe
The connector between a wood stove and the chimney collects deposit fast, because it is the first place the exhaust cools. It comes down in sections, each marked so it goes back in order, and is brushed over a drop cloth or outdoors.
Going back up, each joint is fastened, the crimped ends point toward the stove so condensate runs back into it, and the run keeps its rise toward the chimney. A damper plate that will not seat
Rust and creosote build on the damper frame until the plate drags or stops short of closed. Scraping the plate and frame is part of the sweep, followed by working the handle through its full travel.
