Where the collar and the flue do not line up, a listed elbow at 30, 45 or 90 degrees carries the liner across. The insert's own manual sets any extra rules for its connection, and those come first. The damper frame may need to be cut back to let the liner through, which is listed as its own step. The insert is then set back in place and its surround refitted.

Chimney height and the liner listing
